Born
I was born in a small city about 50 Km North West from Torino called Ivrea.
This city was the capital city of the italian TypeWriter machines.
In this city started in 1908 the famous Olivetti factory.

Around 1972 I started listening on MW with an alarm clock radio.
In that age, every night I usually tuned my radio on the famous frequency of 1440 KHz, 208 meters, to listen at "the radio of the stars", the myth of Radio Luxemburg.
Nice good modulation if we keep on mind that we were in AM and in the seventies, very good disk jockey and nice music.
I would have liked a better receiver so after a while my father bought to me a nice tuner so I can use an external antenna. I had the Philips RH762 with Lw, Mw, Sw and FM.

Citizens Band
I had my first CB around 1972. It was an Hitachi Handy Talkie CH-1550R 1 watt with two channels and whip antenna. Due to very good propagation condition I was able to listen several distant signals.
In 1974 my father gave me my first CB transceiver, a Midland 13-862 with 23 channels 5w with a ground plane on the roof. I was really happy of this great gift!
Computers
I has some portable programmable calculator (Texas TI-59)
Then with my father we builded my first computer around 1978. All my love for computers started here. This has been also the knowledge base for my future work.
At the beginning was just a 1 Mhz Z80 cpu with an hex monitor on eeprom and a hex keyboard and display, 1 kilobyte of dinamic memory.
Later added 8 Kb of static ram, a simple rf video display unit, a tape recorder interface, a serial printer interface, a basic interpreter.
Finally , after several years of upgrade, it was a cpm/m computer with a nice monochrome consolle with good text and graphic, 64 kb of ram, two 8 inch dual head floppy drive, two dual head 5 inch drive, several I/O, sevaral programming language.and compilers. I wroted a lot of programs, both for school and for fun.
The the "commercial era" for computers was already started so in then next time I had an Apple II, a Commodore C16, C64 and C128, an Olivetti M15 and M24 and after started all the 286/386/486 and Pentium up to these days.
HAM RADIO
After a short while I was bored about CB and so I started to study for a HAM license. I passed my exam in 1977 and my father bought to me an Icom IC-201 with an 11 element 2m. antenna. A lot of fun in that age with SSB doing dx's and a lot of friend were usually found on FM.
Then I had several other rig, almost all are still working well right now. Added to my station an FT-290r, FT-712rh, IC-02, IC-32, IC-R71e, IC-R7000. Then also the great Yaesu FT-736r, great for V/U SSB, used also to do a lot with SAT trasponders.

I had my first HF Transceiver in 2006, it was the Yaesu FT-1000 mp Mark-V field. Great rig ! Added the Inrad roofing filter mod. The only minor problem was the poor cat protocol and lack of 6 meters.
I traded my FT-2000 for a new FT-5000 in June 2015.
Great RTX.
I traded my FT-1000 MK-V for a new FT-2000 in March 2008.
I've used it a lot. In seven years of usage I've been more then happy with this transceiver. Never had a single problem.

MY JOB
I'm currently working for Teatro La Scala in Milano as IT manager.
After spending some time in local radio and tv station during my studies, I started my job after computer science degree in 1984 a a post production editor, using Ampex equipment (Ace editing controller, Avc vision mixer, Vpr3 videorecorders with Zeus, Ado digital optics, Chyron character generators and other analog stuff of those days).
Here I was setting up a VPR3 before doing an editing session back in 1984.
This was my suite with an Ampex touch screen editing system where I start working in 1984.
Some time later, from 1990 until 2006, I've been the head of technology of the biggest private Italian post production facility which had tradinatil film lab, analog and digital equipment, the premise main building was about 5000 square meters.
We had several Discreet equipment (Inferno, Flame, Flint, Smoke, Lustre), several editing systems (Avid and FinalCut), many 3d cg workstations, Telecine, Development and printing lab with Celco film recorders and Arri film scanner, tv studios for production with hd equipment, a large network of computers, more other stuff.
A lot of creativity in a highend technology environment, a very nice job !
Now post production facility are very different from the past. It's all digital and all file based.
Form 2006 as Head system engineer I'm in charge of all the IT aspect (computers, networks, security, system administration, virtualization, backup, etc) for some of the biggest post production facility here in Milano.
My current job is IT manager at Teatro La Scala in Milano.
